ARLINGTON, VA — HUNGRY, a technology-enabled food catering and delivery platform based in Arlington, has completed its acquisition of snack foods company NatureBox.
The deal marks HUNGRY’s third major acquisition in the past three years, after previously purchasing LocalStove and Ripe-Catering. Terms of the NatureBox deal were not disclosed.
NatureBox offers healthy snacks delivered directly to clients’ homes and offices. Its SnackPass product allows customized snacking for employees in large or small offices, both on-site and remote. It has served more than 3.5 million consumers and thousands of corporate clients.
HUNGRY was founded in 2017 by Jeff Grass, Eman Pahlavani and Shy Pahlevani to provide employees across the U.S. with food cooked by local chefs. Financial backers of HUNGRY include Jay-Z, Kevin Hart, Usher and other notable investors.
HUNGRY matches companies with top local chefs and restaurants in a region to provide food to employees. The company has more than 250 employees and partners with over 150 local chefs.
“Adding NatureBox to the HUNGRY platform enables us to provide our clients with exclusive access to NatureBox-branded snacks,” Grass, CEO of HUNGRY, said in a statement. “NatureBox’s healthy snacks will be an outstanding complement to Hungry’s business-catering solutions, creating a game-changing combination of exceptional quality and service.”
The company said it has experienced tremendous growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing catering and employee lunch programs in 11 U.S. cities.
Through its partnerships, HUNGRY has donated more than 500,000 meals to people in need over the past five years. The company also promotes environmental waste reduction through its food solutions programs.
