What is a good relationship with food?! – the fuck it diet®

Soooo much of The F*ck It Diet journey is about healing our relationship with food, so we can have a “good” relationship with food. But…. what is a good relationship with food!?!?!

A good relationship with food means you can relax around food, eat without stress or fear, and actually enjoy your food. 

It means you are out of the diet / binge cycle, and can eat freely, trust your cravings, trust your appetite, and eat carbs, fat, and protein without overthinking any of it.

You don’t count calories or macros, and you don’t worry about eating “too much food,” you just eat. When you do eat “too much food” and get uncomfortably full, you know it’s a-ok, and your body can handle it. Maybe you were extra hungry, maybe you had some restrictive thoughts that led to a binge, but either way, you can just return to business and eating as usual. No stress or panic or repenting requires. 

The more you heal your relationship with food, the more your food choices will stem from how it will feel, and not from what you think you should eat. 

A good relationship with food is not about manipulating your body, or forcing yourself to lose weight, but instead trying to nourish and support your body so you have the energy you need, and so your body functions its best.

Is this really possible for everyone?!?!?!

I believe yes. And I’ve seen it happen over and over and over again with people who were sure they were a lost cause.

I know that “a good relationship with food” seems like a fantasy to most people who are stuck in the diet-binge cycle, constantly thinking about food, feeling starving, and convinced they’re a food addict, or believing that if they don’t micromanage their food and their body, everything will fall apart. But it’s very possible to get there, even for people who feel extremely out of control around food!

Why? … it’s our culture that trains us to distrust our bodies, and it’s dieting and guilt around food that wired our brains to fixate and binge on food. Get out of the diet cycle!
