Meals On Wheels of Sarasota was recently awarded a $75,000 grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation to help support its meal service program.
Meals On Wheels of Sarasota clients, who range in age from 3 to 106, receive meals because they are unable to prepare meals or go to a food pantry or grocery store. Recipients are frequently individuals whose plight is overlooked but, with meal assistance, can remain safely independent in their homes. Hundreds of volunteers help prepare, pack, and deliver 800 heart-healthy meals daily throughout the year.
“We are grateful for the support of Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, which will help us serve our community by providing nutritious meals to our homebound neighbors unable to provide meals for themselves,” Meals On Wheels of Sarasota executive director Marjorie Broughton said.
