Press release from the Edge Fitness Clubs:
June 13 2020
ORANGE, Conn. – In accordance with state guidelines allowing health clubs to reopen, The Edge Fitness Clubs is announcing today it will be reopening its 15 locations in Connecticut to members on Wednesday, June 17.
To ensure the health and safety of members and staff, a host of state mandated protocols will be implemented.
“Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our members and staff,” said Jeff Stone, Chief Marketing and Administrative Officer for The Edge Fitness Clubs. “In accordance with requirements from the State of Connecticut, we are committed to providing the safest possible environment so there will be new protocols put in place. These enhancements will allow our Connecticut members to get back to enjoying their health and fitness routines in the safest and most comfortable manner possible.”
Some of the new protocols include the addition of Sanitation Stations, which ensure there are abundant hospital grade cleaning supplies in every area of the facility to wipe down equipment and sanitize hands. Protexus electrostatic fogging spray technology will be used to disinfect and sanitize the entire club. There will also be touchless entry for each member.
Social distancing will also be an important procedural change. Group fitness classes and personal training will resume on June 20. In accordance with state guidelines, there will be a limit on the number of people participating in each fitness class. The clubs will also enact a ‘checkerboard’ approach, utilizing every other piece of equipment.
“One of the great things about our clubs is the amount of space that we have. This allows us to comply with state-mandated capacity restrictions while allowing members to safely adhere to social distancing guidelines,” added Stone.
Initially, the locations will be open the following hours: Monday-Thursday 5 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday 5 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sunday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. These limited hours will allow deep cleaning of the clubs every night.
Edge Fitness will continue to rely on the guidance of government officials and public health authorities to determine when normal operations can be resumed.
The fitness club chain currently has locations in eight states, including Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Missouri, Michigan, Illinois, & Rhode Island.
